Summer of Dante in San Giovanni Valdarno

Concerts, theater and readings dedicated to the Supreme Poet in the year of the Commedia

Over 50 events will liven up the summer in San Giovanni Valdarno. A packed programme has been designed to accommodate different interests, involving the public in concerts, shows, readings and cinema. The unmissable series of events dedicated to Dante is part of the celebrations devoted to the Supreme Poet this year.

Calendar of events

Friday July 30 at 9.15 pm in Piazza Cesare Battisti, there will be a show titled ‘Franz Litz: Dante symphony as part of the Valdarno Piano Festival. The concert consists of two pianos from the Valdarnese Music Academy, along with narration. The pianists will be Valentina Messa and Dario Bonucelli, with actor Ciro Gallorano.

On August 3 in Piazza Masaccio, the show titled “And so we went out to see the stars” takes place with the actor Giorgio Colangeli reciting Dante Alighieri. The impactful performance is bound to excite audiences.

On the evening of August 6 in Piazza Masaccio, the Chagall String Quartet will perform their interpretation of ‘Comedia: in una selva oscura’. The show, organized by the Opera Viva association, is part of the Terre di Arezzo Music Festival. The performers are violinists Paolo Skabar and Matteo Ghione, violist Jacopo Toso, cellist Ilsu Guresci, along with actors Pierluigi Pintar and Francesco Lopergolo who will perform with computer art.
