Dante in jazz, on the panoramic terrace of the museum, in the library: Greve in Chianti pays homage to the poet with a journey that blends words and notes in a whirlwind of events from July to October. The series starts on Thursday July 1 at 9.15 pm held at the terrace of the San Francesco museum on the occasion of the Nights of Archeology. The event looks at Dante’s geography, between Hell and Purgatory, and on the origin and references to Chianti. In the same venue the following evening, Friday July 2 at 9.15 pm, Riccardo Starnotti will read and comment on the tenth canto of hell. “Dante in Jazz” is the title of the event that will be hosted in Piazza Matteotti on Friday July 30 at 9.15 pm. The focal point of the evening will be the recitation by Alessandro Calonaci, accompanied on the guitar by Giulio Stracciati, with an original performance of the most famous cantiche of the Divine Comedy.

The doors of the municipal library will open on Thursday September 23 at 5 pm for an event poised between music and text with Enzo Fileno Carabba, Emiliano Terreni and the Meissa duo, Alda Dalle Lucche and Giulia Fidenti. The last two events that are scheduled for October 2 and 9 propose an event on the terrace of the San Francesco Museum (4 pm) with readings of the eleventh canto of Paradise led by Riccardo Starnotti, while the second event will be a lecture in the municipal library (5 pm) with Antonio Natali, former director of the Uffizi from 2006 to 2015, discussing the relationships between Dante and Bronzino, who created a painting of the poet.

The series is carried out in collaboration with the Chianti Valdarno Museum System, the natural shopping center Le botteghe di Greve, and the support of Toscana Energia. Info: www.comune.greve-in-chianti.fi.it
