San Quirico d’Orcia

Travel for nine days through the Sienese stretch of the Via Francigena to experience the places touched by Dante. The “M’incammino con Dante” project is organized by the municipalities of the province of Siena to celebrate the 700th anniversary of the Supreme Poet’s death. The departure date is set for July 12 from San Gimignano, ending in Radicofani on July 19.

The route will cross Colle Val d’Elsa, Monteriggioni, Siena, Buonconvento, San Quirico d’Orcia, Abbadia San Salvatore, Proceno and Radicofani. In every place, Dante will be remembered through a canto detailed by Giovanni Terreni, in the guise of Dante. The local historian will also be present in the various contexts as a guiding figure through this journey. The group will stop at the most important places along the way such as churches and water points, but also in the museums and hostels available to pilgrims.

Re-enactment in Siena on July 14

At 6pm on July 14 at the Logge del Papa, the group will stop in Siena for a historical re-enactment with actors and figures in costume, reciting cante from the Divine Comedy. This will be followed by the presentation of the guided tours calendar of ‘Siena through Dante’s eyes’ in the company of costumed figures.
